Community Programs / Activities for Everyone

Building Bridges

Building Bridges is an exciting event that brings together principals, teachers, community residents, and local business owners to celebrate and promote education with our children. In a day filled with music, games, and fun, MIMIC in collaboration with schools, businesses, and community organizations provide school bags and school supplies for students. Parents are provided the opportunity to communicate with school personnel and various community organizations. This event will be held annually every first Saturday of September

The James Belen Thanksgiving Drive

The MIMIC Thanksgiving Drive is named in honor of James Belen, a MIMIC member who was extremely generous with his time and support for the community. Unfortunately James passed away around Thanksgiving 2010 and the group has decided to name this event in his honor and memory. MIMIC members and volunteers collect and distribute Thanksgiving dinner baskets door to door, to families in need, as identified from the MIMIC community and the schools within which they work. In addition to providing the meal, they also insert a list of local resources and offer to help connect each family to services.

Father's Day Cookout

This June will be MIMIC’s first annual Father’s Day Cookout to celebrate and promote fatherhood! Look for more information regarding this event soon.

Community Clean Ups

A few times a year MIMIC coordinate community clean ups in partnership with the Spanish American Law Enforcement Association, in order to recruit other men and community residents to take an interest in "cleaning up" their communities in more ways than one.
